Abstract

Formation of screw access hole in clinic could be difficult in cement-retained implant restorations. Conventional methods for making the screw-access hole are labor-intensive and based on impression materials, which involves inaccuracy and clinical discomfort. This clinical report describes a digital workflow for fabricating a drilling guide template for forming the screw access hole by means of intraoral optical scan, and computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) technologies. The present technique not only enhances the accuracy of guided drilling for screw access hole formation, but also increases the convenience of treatment.
